Product Overview
These are similar to cabinet rasps but are not as wide relative to their length. This allows you to work in tighter spaces.
Auriou Modeller's Rasps are for more delicate shaping work and complement the work done by Cabinet Maker's Rasps.
Due to demand from our Welsh stick making friends we have now added a coarser 7" rasp to the modellers range.

Posted by Randall Child on 13th Mar 2024
Me being a chairmaker, and needing a whole assortment of rasps and files, these Auriou rasps are indispensable to my work, especially the modellers rasps..it is by far the best rasps and files I've ever used and I use a lot of brands, ranging from Nicholson patternmaker rasps, to Japanese rasps, but the Auriou cabinetmaker and modellers rasps are my go-to for my sculpting and shaping

A tactile adventure with these well-balanced and finely cut rasps. They go far beyond what I used to think about less well-designed rasps.

5 Nice cutting smaller rasp
Posted by Unknown on 9th Sep 2020
good size for detailing work, have now used it on Jarrah, Mahogany and Cedar. Currently making a number of tool holders in Jarrah, and where I would normally use gouges and abrasives for shaping, the 175mm (7") grain 13, cuts the Jarrah easily, and leaves a quite smooth surface finish. I find the 175mm a good size for smaller work. One of those tools that always feels just right.

5 Precisely what I needed
Posted by Harvey Brotman on 9th Mar 2020
I'm a woodworking and I enjoy making Greene & Greene inspired furniture. I was using all kinds of techniques to "pillow" the proud finger joints but it was just taking too long. This modeller's rasp was perfect with it's fine teeth. I was able to do the job in about 1/4 the time.

5 Great for smaller parts
Posted by Richard Maguire on 23rd May 2018
I use this rasp for refining smaller instrument parts. I found that I was able to shape smaller pieces of wood easily with this tool. I would normally have used sandpaper on blocks or dowels for these tasks. This allowed me to get very close to final finish and gave me lots of control.

5 Best

I am a semi-professional woodcarver (carve every day). These are far supierior to any I have used. Respond well to the slight variations in hand pressure applied. Great!

5 Good cut in a small size. 7" G. 10

This is a great cut in a small sized rasp, but still leaves a nice finish that is easily cleaned up. Easy to clean up a small part quickly. I will be using this one quite often.

5 Simply the best there is!

Two years ago at Handworks 2015 I finally broke down and bought an Aeriou rasp from a dealer there. The first time I tried it I couldn't believe the difference between it and the machine stitched rasp I had been using. Since then I have added more to my file drawer. You just can't go wrong with this rasp!
