Product Overview

These are similar to cabinet rasps but are not as wide relative to their length. This allows you to work in tighter spaces.
Auriou Modeller's Rasps are for more delicate shaping work and complement the work done by Cabinet Maker's Rasps.
Due to demand from our Welsh stick making friends we have now added a coarser 7" rasp to the modellers range.

Order Notes

Orders that include [Special Order] rasps may add 2-5 weeks to the delivery time. Where combined with standard range tools the whole order will not be shipped until complete. These include the left handed options and some superfine cabinet rasps.

Please note - Our web orders are now being fulfilled by UK based Classic Hand Tools as we have found that this has significantly improved the service to our individual web customers. Classic Hand Tools carry as much stock as we can supply them and ship worldwide.

    The Best in the World

Posted by Bill Perkins on 18th Dec 2015

I recently purchased the 6-inch, 15 gauge modeler's rasp from Auriou. It is a work of art. I have two other Auriou rasps, and it's hard for me to believe how much better they all cut than any other rasp I have used. I ordered directly from Forge de Saint Juery (through Classic Hand Tools) rather than through a retailer in the U.S. There are retailers I like and respect, but I wanted to make it possible for Forge de Saint Juery to realize a bit more from the sale. It's very important to me that they are in businesses, making fine hand tools.

Made to a Standard, Not to a Price

I'm not a skilled wood worker but even I can see that these tools are far superior to my machine made rasps. I procrastinated for quite some time before I took the plunge and spent the money. Now I wish I had bought them a long time ago. My chair would have been finished sooner and with less effort. I have been using Australian Red Gum, a very hard durable timber with very difficult grain. These rasps made it feel like I was working with soft wood. I'm very happy with my investment.
