AURIOU TOOLWORKS AURIOU TOOLWORKS is very grateful that you have spread the word that we are back in production. We are a small traditional forge and have a very small budget for marketing and we rely on word of mouth and the efforts of our retailers.
They say that copying something is a form of flattery and many companies try to re-create the quality of Auriou hand stitched rasps and rifflers. This may be attempted by using machines or by using a cheaper labour source and different steel. You must decide whether our tools are worth the extra money you pay for the knowledge we have in blacksmithing, grinding, polishing and in particular stitching (the hand cutting of teeth onto the rasp or riffler blank).
All I can say is that we have very many thousands of satisfied customers around the world who apprecaute our tools. We continue to make our tools in the old way, not through any stubbornness to change but because it is still teh best way to create the best tool. We make our tools to work not to a price.
I am a 4th generation rasp maker and we have small very skilled team of toolmakers here at Forge de Saint Juery which is the home of Auriou Toolworks in France.
We respect the old traditional hand forging and stitching techniques which are all done "in house". We are alone to do this in the world.You are very welcome to come and visit us.
Our production is limited so please make sure you make enquiries of us or our worldwide dealers in good time.
